I’m trying a new thing…

January 13, 2012

…it’s called organization…
Currently i’m in desperate need of:

shelves,

organization,

storage,

baskets,

bins,

a glass of wine,

a vacation wouldn’t hurt,

a new wardrobe,

a trip to Ikea!

This is our office closet, not lookin’ so hot.

Technically this room is considered the 4th bedroom of the house, but since we’re using it as an office, we’ve dubbed the closet in here as the craft closet {CC}. I’ve added some arrows so you can get a feel of where our office is compared to the rest of the first floor of the house.

{i apologize for all the bad photos in this post..blame it on the iphone camera}

The CC is definitely in need of some tidy-ing up, and we are heading to the mecca of organizational do-dads this weekend…Ikea!

Here is my semi-master plan..sure to get changed along the process.

I want to build shelves the whole length of the office, add lots of baskets or bins with labels, storage for gift wrap (isn’t it obvious that’s what those long purple tubes are in my sketch..) and some smaller drawers for all the knickknacks that I have accumulated and can’t seem to part with.

Here is a bunch of visual candy that I’ve seen online and will take with me to Ikea to get my creative juices flowing…wish us luck..that place can be dangerous!

Please, you are the queen of organization! I know how you feel though… don’t you feel like a new person when things are tidy? Speaking of which, I just did that to my fridge/freezer. I didn’t know that I was still holding on to some frozen Trader Joe Spinach Dip, circa 2009. YUCK! Freezer burn or no freezer burn, that baby got tossed! Good luck with your storage closet. If it turns out, you are doing my laundry room for me! :) Can’t wait to see you this weekend!

We need to clean out our freezer too – I honestly have no idea what is behind the front layer of goodies – I’ll let you know what we come up with tomorrow! Our laundry room is on the radar too – we are trying to spruce it up a bit, make it look a little less basement-y…

You mention both my favorite stores – IKEA and Container Store. It looks like you have great ideas. I really enjoy your blog, as does Marit.
